There have been a handful of moments in Genshin Impact history where a new character releases and you can feel the meta shift in real time. Kazuha was one. Bennett was another. Furina is absolutely one of these characters, and I think even two years from now, she’ll still be showing up in “who is the best support in the game” conversations.
The thing about Furina is that she doesn’t do one thing well. She does everything well simultaneously. Off-field Hydro application, personal damage, team-wide damage amplification, and her design actively rewards players for building other HP-scaling characters alongside her. This guide explains how she works and how to get the most out of her.
The Fanfare Mechanic — This Is Everything
Furina’s Elemental Burst, Let the People Rejoice, is the reason she’s so valuable. When you activate it, it starts accumulating Fanfare stacks based on how much HP changes across your entire party — both increases (healing) and decreases (damage taken). The more total HP that fluctuates, the faster you hit maximum Fanfare, and maximum Fanfare translates into up to 75% team-wide DMG bonus and healing bonus.
That 75% DMG bonus applies to the entire team and stacks multiplicatively with other buffs. This is why running Furina with characters who have large HP pools is so effective — Neuvillette’s massive HP means his HP fluctuations generate more Fanfare per instance.
Her Elemental Skill is also fantastic. It summons three Salon Members — the Surintendante, Gentilhomme, and Mademoiselle — that float around and continuously deal Hydro damage to enemies while draining a small amount of HP from the on-field character. The HP drain generates Fanfare AND contributes to Neuvillette’s Marechaussee Hunter stacks. The synergy is almost too good.
Building Her — Support vs Personal Damage
Here’s the decision you need to make: are you running Furina as a pure support, or do you care about her personal damage too?
For pure support, Tenacity of the Millelith 4-piece is worth considering — when her Salon Members hit enemies, it procs the set bonus and gives your whole team a 20% ATK buff. She’s off-field most of the time, so this uptime is actually decent.
For personal damage, Golden Troupe 4-piece gives a massive 70% Skill DMG bonus when characters are off-field, which directly buffs her Salon Members. Her personal damage isn’t the reason you run her, but with Golden Troupe it becomes a meaningful contribution on top of her support value.
Main stats: HP% on Sands always. Goblet can be HP% or Hydro DMG depending on build. Circlet is Crit Rate or Crit DMG if you’re investing in her personal damage, or HP% if pure support. She needs enough ER to Burst every rotation — aim for 130-160% depending on your team.
Weapons
Her signature, Splendor of Tranquil Waters, is exceptional. It scales her Skill DMG with her own HP and also has a passive that buffs HP% for the on-field character. Beautiful design for her kit.
Without her signature, Favonius Sword is probably the most practical option because it generates energy for the team and helps her Burst more consistently. Festering Desire from an old event gives ER and Skill DMG and Skill CRIT Rate — essentially perfect for her if you have it. Fleuve Cendre Ferryman is a new 4-star with ER and Skill CRIT Rate that was clearly made with her in mind.
Who Does She Work With
Almost everyone, but she’s especially strong with characters who have large HP pools or naturally fluctuate HP. Neuvillette is her best partner — Hydro resonance, both scaling with HP, his mechanics generate and benefit from Fanfare simultaneously. Hu Tao benefits hugely because the constant HP drain keeps Hu Tao in her low-HP damage zone while generating Fanfare. Wriothesley is another great pair for similar reasons.
The one caveat is that Furina’s HP drain can be dangerous if you don’t have a healer in the team. Running her with a shielder like Zhongli works but means you miss out on healing-based Fanfare generation. Running her with a healer like Baizhu, Kokomi, or Charlotte is generally better because the healing generates Fanfare while keeping everyone alive.
Is She Worth Pulling
Yes. Without qualification. Furina is the best support in Genshin Impact right now and has been since her release. She works in virtually every team, provides buffs that few other characters can match, and her personal damage is a bonus on top of all of that. If you see her on a banner, pull her.
